The Measure of Success

December 2023

We keep the question in front of us – “how do we know we are being successful in accomplishing our mission of Creating Opportunities for Life Change through the Love of Christ?” Can we point to the numbers of campers we serve every year? Camp’s financial condition? The fact that it took only 48 hours before some day camp slots were already full to overflowing? Many campers making spiritual decisions at LWBC? All of these things are signs of success but numbers don’t tell the whole story. Let me tell you about a camper this past summer ….

Early in the summer, a young camper enjoyed a great week of camp. She had an amazing counselor & unforgettable experiences. Tragically, we heard a short time after she returned home, that her father had passed away. Our staff prayed together for the family and decided to offer what we could, a no-cost week of day camp. Our hope was that we could be a blessing to both camper and family in a very difficult time. It turned into an amazing blessing for the camper, family and our staff as well. She ended up being at camp for two more weeks and as she left with a giant smile on her face, she promised to return as soon as possible! Her family fervently expressed how much of a blessing it was to be able to have a place where she was loved and encouraged. She had a place where she felt she belonged.

Numbers just can’t reflect the success that this story brings to life. LWBC’s generous donors provide scholarship money to campers like this one, much appreciated support for our year-round staff & financial backing to keep our facility well maintained. Every camper & guest experience the Love of Christ through our amazing staff and programs, like our Historical Thanksgiving field trip experience, the Ladies Christmas Tea and our “W”inter retreat. Lake Waubesa Bible Camp’s facility is active almost every week, all year long and serves thousands of guests!

The LWBC board of directors and staff are so thankful to those who support our mission and enable us to show the Love of Christ to every camper (families) and guests! We put your generosity to work every day. As we look forward to another season of ministry, there are significant expenditures over and above our ordinary budget that we know are needed:

  • A speed boat (our current speed boat’s last voyage was with campers & canoe paddles in hand to get back to shore)
  • Main Lodge roofing
  • Making accessible ramps for several buildings

We are thankful for those of you who partner with LWBC to make these things happen. We are asking that you prayerfully consider and year-end gift to help us continue Creating Opportunities for Life Change through the Love of Christ. Please keep us on your prayer list too!
